1. Why should I accept credit cards in my
business?
Accepting credit cards will increase your sales. Research has shown that
many people are looking to specifically pay using credit cards. Therefore,
if you are not using credit cards to accept payments, especially online, you
are missing out on a lot of customers that would be more than happy to
purchase from you with a credit card. Competition in business is now very
tough, and no online retailer should be able to afford getting by without
accepting credit cards. Therefore, if you are not accepting credit cards yet,
apply for a merchant account, and see a rise in sales!
2. Should I get my own merchant account, or is
using a 3rd party service better?
In general, I recommend getting your own merchant account. The main reason
therefore is that it just looks much more professional. You could also use a
3rd party merchant account provider, which means that your clients would
have to leave your website to pay for the products or services purchased,
but again, using your own merchant account looks much more professional, and
I personally don't shop from anybody using a 3rd party payment provider,
because that usually means that the business is only being run on the side
and has no substantial revenue. In my mind, these kinds of businesses could
be gone any day, and I would have no support in case there is a problem.
Therefore, I, and I think many others as well, only shop from retailers with
their own merchant account!
3. How fast can I start accepting credit cards
after applying?
